Poltergeist
IN DEVELOPMENTYour signal has one last stop.
Poltergeist is webhook middleware that sits between a trading signal and its execution destination. Its job is to inspect a supported signal and decide what should happen before that signal reaches execution.
What it is
Middleware for a trade webhook.
A trading signal usually arrives as a webhook — a small payload saying what to do. Poltergeist receives that payload, checks it, and only then passes a supported signal along. It is not a broker, not a chart, and not an execution venue.
Why it exists
A control layer before the fill.
Automated trading normally sends a valid signal directly toward execution. Poltergeist introduces an intelligence layer between those two steps, so size, validity and destination can be decided before anything is forwarded.
What it can do
Four decisions between signal and destination.
Evaluate
Inspects a supported incoming signal — action, instrument, stop and source — before anything is sent onward.
Modify
Can resize supported entry signals using configured risk rules, instead of forwarding the original quantity unchanged.
Reject
Can stop a signal from reaching execution when validation, risk or configuration checks fail. Uncertain cases fail closed.
Forward
Sends approved signals to the configured destination. That destination is currently a webhook receiver — in Spooky’s stack, Ghost.
Spooky’s implementation
One current stack. Not a requirement.
Spooky currently runs Wraith into Poltergeist, then Ghost, then a trade copier. That is Spooky's implementation — not a requirement for Poltergeist itself. Other supported webhook sources and receivers may need adapters or configuration.
Wraith is Spooky's current signal source. Poltergeist remains platform-agnostic middleware: Webhook Signal → Poltergeist → Webhook Receiver. It does not require Wraith.
Currently being built
In testing inside Spooky’s stack.
Implemented
- Dynamic risk-based position sizing
- Configurable strategy profiles
- Signal history
- Admin monitoring and configuration
- Validation with fail-closed behavior
- Entry slippage and signal drift telemetry (observational)
Planned / exploratory
- Slippage protection
- Historical slippage analytics
These are not finished capabilities. They are being considered, not shipped.
Poltergeist is currently being tested inside Spooky’s own trading stack.
